Beethoven s Life And Life - 1351 Words

Beethoven was born on December 16th 1770 in Germany. He was baptized on December 17th 1770 at Bonn. His mother and father were originally from Brabant Belgium. Beethoven’s mother was a very kind and gentle women, he called her his best friend. His father was a musician and had a problem drinking alcohol. He had six other siblings, which were three brothers named, Kaspar, Nikolaus, and Franz. His sister’s names were Maria, Anna Maria and Ludwig Maria. Beethoven was very interested in music at a young age. His father taught him every day and every night. Sometimes his father would get very intoxicated in the middle of the night and go wake up Beethoven and have him play the piano for hours throughout the night. Beethoven was writing and performing for a couple years when he eventually published his first work of art in 1782. It was called â€Å"9 Variations in C Minor for piano on a march by Earnst Christoph Dressler (WoO 63). The following year, in 1783, Neefe wrote in the Magazine of Music, about his student. If he continues like this, he will be, without a doubt, the new Mozart (Salter).† In 1787 Beethoven went back to Bonn due to his mother being ill. She ended up passing away on July 12th 1787. After staying in his home town for five years, Beethoven went back to Vienna. He received a grant from Prince Elector for two years to pursue his musical education. Beethoven ended up staying in Vienna and never went back to his town where he was born. In the year 1793 â€Å"Beethoven begins lessons with Haydn. The city s most influential musical patrons -- particularly Prince Lichnowsky - take Beethoven under their wing, and put him forward to take on the city s piano virtuosos in improvisation contests. One after the other he defeats them and quickly establishes his reputation as the finest piano virtuoso in Vienna (Suchet).† After working with Haydn for a while he got frustrated due to the fact that Haydn was busy with his own works.
